LI-jung Lee/M.A.
A language education lover dedicated to making learning meaningful and fun
I am a visiting lecturer of Chinese (Mandarin) at the University of British Columbia (UBC). I teach non-heritage and heritage Chinese courses. Before joining the Department of Asian Studies at UBC, I taught Chinese at Wake Forest University in North Carolina, USA, and developed learning materials and a new proficiency test at the Division of Research and Development in the Steering Committee for the Test of Proficiency – Huayu in Taiwan.
I believe learning should be personally meaningful and fun. This approach helps learners overcome their frustrations and make them become life-long learners. For me, the satisfaction of teaching is in students immersing themselves in Chinese happily and sharing their ideas in Chinese confidently.
